Grateful

Written by Steve Lau.

     Hello Friends, Colleagues and Clients:

     The word that comes to mind this time of year is “grateful.”

     Over the past couple of months, folks have come to me with a variety of their legal problems for me to solve. Though I emphasize a personal injury practice, (helping people recover money, lost wages and medical bills for their pain and suffering caused by the fault of others), I am grateful for the opportunity to have successfully helped them with their various legal problems. These matters include:

-           Helping a mother and daughter retain possession of their apartment and recover damages for breach of contract

-           Mediate low income housing denials;

-           Expunge a criminal record;

-           Help a mother retain custody of her child;

-           Win a reversal of conviction on appeal for a man wrongfully arrested and convicted.

     I am grateful to be part of a profession that helps people overcome serious problems. Helping people is the main reason that I started my law practice in San Francisco over 28 years ago. It is a passion that I feel especially during the Holiday season, when I see more people around us in acute pain, and suffering.

     We cannot eliminate all of the suffering in the world. But, we can always help those within our reach. If you are fortunate to be able to work in a job or profession whose purpose it is to help others, then you are blessed.

     I invite you to take a moment to consider what you are grateful for – Who fills your life with happiness? Who helps you during the hard times? Who are the people whom you can rely on to encourage you, listen to you and lend you a hand? How can you express your gratitude to them this Holiday Season?

     I wish each of you a happy Holiday Season. My hope is that we can reach out and help those around us, to be thankful for our blessings and the opportunity to help others.

     Inspirational Quote for the Holiday Season:

“Let us rise up and be thankful, for if we didn't learn a lot today, at least we learned a little, and if we didn't learn a little, at least we didn't get sick, and if we got sick, at least we didn't die; so, let us all be thankful." Buddha
